Finance Operations & Accounting Manager (f/m/d) - Remote in Germany
Synera's accounting currently lives largely outside our walls — in the hands of external partners we depend on but can't fully control. We're ready to change that! This role is for someone who wants to build what comes next: deciding which processes move in-house first, designing how they run, and then actually running them in a growing B2B SaaS company with entities in Germany and the US, and more to come.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
You'll join our Finance Flamingos — a small, tight-knit team with a clear mission: keep every Synerian's bureaucracy load as light as possible, and make all necessary processes as smooth and automated as technology and legal requirements allow. Together with Carmen, our Finance Lead, and our BusyBees (Business Operations), you'll make Synera's numbers speak to everyone who needs them — team leads, C-level, investors, authorities, and our board.
This isn't a pure execution role, and it's not a pure strategy role either. It's the sweet spot: you'll assess which accounting and finance processes should move from our external partners to in-house, design how they should run, and then own the day-to-day execution. You'll bring the internal expertise we need to handle growing complexity across multiple entities and countries — covering everything from preparatory accounting and monthly closings to multi-entity consolidation, procure-to-pay, financial planning, and sales commissions. Along the way, you'll raise our reporting standards and drive automation wherever manual work still slows us down.
Synera is in a phase of fast growth, and we want to be upfront about what that means for your career path with us. You’ll join as the senior individual contributor and have real ownership over what you build and run. However, we can't draw a clean ladder that says "in nine months, you'll be Accounting Lead." What we can offer is the chance to grow with the company: to help shape this role as our finance function evolves, and to take on more scope as we add entities, complexity, and team.
👉 What a week at Synera could look like:
Monday: You complete the preparatory accounting for the previous week, align with team members on open expense items, and sync with Carmen on upcoming process changes.
Tuesday: You meet with Business Operations to improve how Synera's multi-entity structure is reflected in internal reporting — and prototype a quick fix using Claude along the way.
Wednesday: You prepare numbers for an R&D tax refund application and advise People & Culture on the tax implications of a new employee benefit.
Thursday: You review learnings from the last yearly closing and decide whether to build an in-house process for a deliverable that came in too late from an external provider.
Friday: A last-minute CFO request, pre-coding open AP items, issuing invoices — and you close the week by documenting the sales commission process that now runs without manual intervention. Exactly the kind of win that matters.
⚡ In 3 months:
You've mapped the gaps in our current accounting setup and sketched out the roadmap. You have a clear plan of where our tools, processes, and automations are going; in collaboration with Finance Flamingos and BusyBees.
Our yearly closing has a clear, lean structure with defined ownership and no last-minute surprises.
CFO, auditors, and investors all have access to reporting they can navigate without a guided tour; consolidated and built to scale.
⚡ In 6 months:
Our tool stack and processes are ready to welcome new entities: APAC and additional EU markets. Our multi-currency setup is plug and play rather than rebuilding from scratch.
Finance transparency is a given, not a project: real-time visibility for C-level, clean audit trails, and reporting that speaks to every audience that needs it.
